Interesting information:

  1. Demolition of structural walls in the house and partially deconstructing exterior wall

  2. Installing of steel beans in place of demolished walls

  3. Installing steel columns to support the steel beams 

  • These structural modifications were made to unite 3 different rooms of a house. A door was installed to give easy acces to the garden.

Tips & Tricks:

  • Most old houses in Belgium have a shallow foundation or lack it altogether. Make sure to poor a proper foundation for the supportive steel structure that you install in place of the old walls.

  • Pro-tip: use a stability engineer and perform a stability study before undergoing structural alterations of your house.
